AUGUST
DANCES
Saturday,
August 13th and Saturday, August 27th
7:30
PM to 10:30 PM
THE
BARN
RHUMBA
LESSON
7:40
PM to 8:30 PM
There were 60 dancers at the
June 11 dance and 81 dancers at the June 25 dance.
We appreciate each guest, and the
group of approximately 15 who came from Aiken Palmetto Dance Studio gave
us a larger than usual attendance. We really like a crowd on the dance floor.
At the general membership
meeting after the cookout, July 9th, unanimous approval was
given for revision of chapter bylaws to allow election of the
Director-at-large: Programs & Entertainment and the Director-at-large:
Outreach & Youth. This will make them voting members of the Board of
Directors.
Proposed election procedures
were a topic of discussion at the Board Meeting, July 10th,
Richland County Library, 3:00 PM. Also discussed were the Charlotte Elfe
Memorial Scholarship,
complimentary tickets, National Ballroom Dance Week, USC Gamecock
Dancesport Club and changing our organization name with the Secretary of
State office from USABDA to USA Dance, Inc. The next Board Meeting is August
14, 2005, 3:00 PM, at the
Richland County Library.
Welcome to new members Jake
Halford and Joe McDonagh who became part of Chapter 6032 during June,
2005. August Happy
Birthdays go to: Richard Alexander, Akesh Godovari, Sep Harvin, III,
John Hsu, Al Jayne, Barbara Kubodera, Daniel Lowery, Pam Marshall, and
Pam Melton.
Fancy Feet dancers performed
at Atria Forest Lake on Saturday, July 10th at 2:00 PM.
Due to the small floor, only four dancers were able to dance.
The group of 15 to 20 residents welcomed Nisha & Barbara
Kubodera, Bob Sitko & Emma Sharpe with much appreciation.
They requested an encore.
Don’t forget the
Columbia’s Ballroom Company
Luau, August 20th at Dupree’s Northeast beginning at 2:00
PM. There will be a dance
show, dinner, champagne
and general dancing. The
deadline for reservations is August 4th.
You may contact Joyce Lagatore for details.
We
can’t let this month go by without mentioning `Dancing With The
Stars’, the television summer surprise hit.
Many people watched it, even people who do not dance.
It has generated more interest in ballroom dancing
than any of the
recent dance movies.
Did
you pick the
winner?
