There were 57 people at the dance on May 13th and 57 people at the dance on May 27th. Cha Cha was taught by Sheila Brown at both dances.

June Birthdays: Jerry Brown, Hubert Chandler Jr., Richard Durlach, John Holt, and Betty Matthews.

Topics of discussion at the May 13th board meeting were the food budget, instructors, DJ’s, and exhibitions. The next board meeting will be June 24th at 6:30 PM at The Barn. All members in good standing are welcome to attend.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo on May 13th (a little late) with a Cha Cha lesson and a special Bachata lesson taught by Bob Sitko. Refreshments included taquitos, tacos, homemade salsa, apple enchiladas and non-alcoholic margaritas. The Barn was decorated with Mexican posters, piñatas, flags, paper flowers and fiesta style table decorations. Thank you to Teresa Russell, Janet Girard, Emma Sharpe, Jo Morton and Reba Woodford, as well as those who set up and cleaned up. A special thank you to our sponsors: Columbia World Affairs Council, Clyde’s Spirits and Fine Wines, Red Bank Hair Express, Donna Swinbank (Avon), and Piggly Wiggly.

Mark your calendar and make plans to attend the Columbia’s Ballroom Company Luau on June 24th at Dupre’s Northeast, 812 Bookman Road, in Pontiac, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. There will be a show from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by dinner and general dancing. You can make reservations until June 9th. Call 803-750-0181 for more information.

Vista Ballroom held their first showcase at the studio on May 6th. Erin Bolshakov and her staff can be proud of what they have accomplished in the short period of time since they opened. The dancers knew the material and the routines were well done for the large crowd of dancers, friends and family attending. If you were not there, you missed a real treat.
