From the President
Our dances are well-attended and a lot of fun. Invite a friend, neighbor or relative
to come with you to learn the joy of ballroom dancing. The group lesson at the
beginning of the dance introduces our guests to the dance as well as the members of
the group. Please be sure to introduce yourself and welcome any new faces. It can be
scary to attend for the first time!
We all join USADance because we love to dance. However, too often I hear complaints
from women that no one is asking them to dance. Gentlemen, we need you! I know that
many of you come with a partner or have a favorite with whom you like to dance. Can
you sacrifice one or two dances to ask a new lady to dance? Ask a lady that you don’t
know, introduce yourself and make a new friend. Or ask someone that you do know and
make a better friend.
It takes a lot of people to put a dance together. We have volunteers making and
displaying the food, decorating the ballroom, playing the music, staffing the front
desk, setting up and cleaning up. We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you to
everyone who helps. Offer to lend a hand occasionally to keep these dances going.
We are also very grateful to the three dance studios in town that provide us with
professional teachers and pro-am exhibitions. They help us maintain a consistent
level of instruction and proficiency. Thank you, Capital Ballroom, Columbia’s Ballroom
and Vista Ballroom. Links to each of these studios may be found on our website
(www.usadance.us/).See you on the dance floor!
Opportunity for DJ’s! Have you always wonderedwhat a DJ does? We are looking for
some new DJ volunteers. We hope to get enough volunteers to rotate so that no one
has to serve too often. Please let Patricia Hill know if you are interested. We will
be scheduling a training session in the near future.
Show off your cooking talent! We always welcome donations of food to our dances.
Do you have a special dessert that you make? Show it off at USADance! Maybe you’re
known far and wide for your vegetable dip. Show it off at USADance! Whatever your
specialty, show it off at USADance! But please, no chips of any kind. They make a
mess on the carpet.
Show off your dancing! The Program committee is always looking for amateur
couples to perform at the first dance of the month. We love to see our members dance
and we love to applaud them. See Lee Minghi to schedule your opportunity. Or, since
Lee will not be at our next few dances, contact Patricia Hill.
COOKOUT! We will have a cookout beginning at 6:30 pm before the dance on July
22nd. The chapter will furnish hot dogs, hamburgers and buns. We ask that you
bring a drink, side dish or dessert to share. The Program Committee is coordinating
this picnic. Please see Lee Minghi or any member of the committee to tell what you
will bring. See you there!
JULY DANCES
