There were 44 people at the September 9th dance and 46 people at the
September 23rd dance. We appreciate Sheila Brown’s tango lesson at each dance.
The ice cream social was a huge success judging by all the baked items provided.
Thanks to everyone who contributed. Now we need to dance twice as much for
a while!
Topics of discussion at the September 9th Board Meeting were the appointment of
Ron Morton as Program Chairman, Fancy Feet Dancers with Norma Davis as Coordinator,
French Night in November, Lexington High School afternoon dances, USC Dancesport
team and instructors for October and November. The next Board Meeting is scheduled
for October 14th, 6:30 PM, at The Barn. All members in good standing are welcome
to attend.
Happy Birthdays to: Freda Hunt, Mary Margaret Kendrick, Nisha Kubodera,
Betty Schmidt.
The Fancy Feet Dancers performed at The Waterford on September 23rd. The residents
were very appreciative of the show provided by the four couples and asked them to
return soon. The next scheduled performance of the group is October 7th at Atria
At Forest Lake. If you are interested in participating in this worthwhile outreach
effort, please contact Norma Davis at 803-782-1424.
At www.ballroomdancers.com, the definition of Cha Cha is: An exciting, syncopated
Latin dance which originated in the 1950’s as a slowed down Mambo. The Cha Cha gets
its name and character from its distinct repetitive foot rhythm.
Our Halloween Dance will be October 28th, so be sure to create a unique costume.
We usually have a costume contest with prizes, but the best part is having great
participation by our members and guests. Original costumes are encouraged.
